Now that candle season is fully upon us, I think it's important to remind everyone the basic guidelines in burning a candle.
Rule #1: Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Rule #2: To prevent accidents from happening, keep burning candles away from children and pets. With the busy household around this time of year, it is easy to forget little things like that.
Rule #3: Always place candle on a heat resistant surface and never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire (ie. Christmas tree).
*Pro Tip: To ensure minimal soot, do not allow the wick to ‘mushroom'. If flame becomes too big, extinguish candle, trim wick, and relight. Always trim the wick to about 1/4" before lighting or re-lighting.
